Odesza Concerts

Everyone knows about Odesza’s awesome music. But do you know how the group got their start?

It all began when Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight met during their freshmen year at Western Washington University. Despite not sharing the same educational interests, they began collaborating musically during their senior year in 2012.

The group they formed was named after Mills’ uncle’s sunken vessel, which was named after the Ukrainian city of Odessa. But since the name “Odessa” was already taken by a Scottish synth band, they chose for a form of the Hungarian spelling “Odesza”.

Early Techno Career

After forming, the duo quickly released a debut LP, Summer’s Gone, on September 6, 2012. Then the group performed their first show, opening for Teen Daze and Beat Connection in Bellingham, Washington. The group then was booked to open for Pretty Lights on his Analog Future Tour in Fall of 2013. These experiences led to Odesza’s first headline tour which kicked off on March 12, 2014.

By this time, the group had become popular. So no one was surprised when they sold out 28 shows during their In Return North American tour on October 17, 2014. In addition, 31 of their tracks reached the #1 spot on Hype Machine, including “How Did I Get Here”, “Memories That You Call”, “Lights”, “All We Need” (Autograf Remix), among others.

The band had even had the opportunity to play for a variety of major festivals and events including; Sasquatch! Music Festival, Coachella, SXSW, Hangout Festival, Lightning in a Bottle, Governor’s Ball Music Festival, Bonnaroo Music Festival, Firefly Music Festival, Free Press Summer Fest, and Lollapalooza.
